The Providence Journal reports that Pawtucket's Jeff Bailey and Charlie Zink have won Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Pitcher awards, respectively, for the International League.Â
So does this mean Bailey and Zink are headed for greatness? Not necessarily. Previous Pawtucket honorees for these awards have included Bronson Arroyo (2003), Pat Dodson (1986), Dave Stapleton (1979), Gary Allenson (1978), Ted Cox (1977), and Jim Rice (1974).
Bailey does find himself in the starting lineup at first base for the Red Sox in Yankee Stadium this evening, however.
