Will Sox Take a Risk on The Gambler?

Multiple reports today suggest the Detroit Tigers have placed LHP Kenny Rogers on waivers for the purpose of seeing if they might be able to deal him in the next few days. It has been suggested that the Red Sox and Yankees have the most interest.

He's not exactly having a career season, with a 5.09 ERA and opponents hitting .299 against him. He has surrendered 188 hits and 17 homers in 161 innings of work this year.

That said, the 43-year-old Rogers is a veteran lefty with more than 200 wins under his belt. Given the questions about the health of the Red Sox rotation, he might be worth a risk if the price is right. He's earning $8 million this year in the final one of his current contract.
